Valentina 1.1.0 — Release Notes

Valentina 1.1.0 is the first release of the new 1.1 edge series. It brings new curve and arc tools, finer control over seam allowances and notches, a redesigned way to view and edit your pattern’s history, faster size switching, and a long list of refinements across all three apps.

⚠️ Please read before upgrading. This version reworks how curves are named, so patterns made in earlier versions are automatically converted when you open them. The conversion is reliable for most files but cannot be perfect in every case — after converting a pattern, open it and check your formulas and curve references. There is also no backward compatibility: a file saved in 1.1.x cannot be opened in the 1.0.x branch. Keep a backup of your originals before upgrading.

The 1.1 line is the edge series — newer features, but less stable than the stable branch, which continues to receive bug fixes.

Valentina

• New Graduated curve tool — a single curve with several offsets along its length.
• New Parallel curve tool — a curve offset at a constant distance.
• New Elliptical arc with length tool.
• The Segment Arc tool now works with elliptical arcs, not just circular ones.
• True zero seam allowance width for cases where an exactly-zero allowance is needed.
• Notch visibility by formula, plus an option to stop a notch from being mirrored.
• Curve segments are now selectable objects with on-canvas labels, and a new Auto-arrange labels action (Ctrl+Shift+A) tidies crowded labels in one step.
• Editable group operations — add or remove objects from an existing rotation, move, or flip — with bulk rename of their results.
• Safe renaming — renaming a point now updates the formulas that used it instead of breaking them.
• New Dependency Tree panel replacing the old History dialog: instant filtering, two-way canvas sync, dependency-aware deletion, and safe history reordering.
• Reload labels and Install single line font actions.
• Import and export increments from the Table of variables.
• Global object color and default pen style applied to newly created objects.
• New curve approximation scale option to override the global setting per pattern.
• Filterable dropdown lists throughout the app.
• Segment visualization and a live Union Details preview on the canvas.
• The inactive pattern piece is now darkened so the active one stands out.
• Much faster size switching in Detail mode.
• Simplified measurement loading — one command, with a dialog to choose individual or multisize.
• Tool Normal now saves its formula values correctly.
• Fixed several crashes (multisize sync failure, closing the app with a tool dialog open on Windows, closing a Pin dialog after undo/redo), wrong label colors at startup and on theme switch, the seam allowance for symmetrical pieces, and a macOS accessibility warning.

Tape

• Simplified measurement loading — the same unified flow as in Valentina.
• The known-measurements editor now refreshes the diagram immediately when an image’s size scale changes.

Puzzle

• New Print text as paths option for consistent labels on plotters and across viewers.
• Sheet numbers are now shown in brackets to separate them from the sheet name.
• True zero seam allowance width and the option to not mirror a notch.
• Fixed the seam allowance calculation for symmetrical pieces.

Other

• End of support for Windows versions below 10.
