Valentina 1.0.4 Released

Valentina 1.0.4 is a small but worthwhile maintenance release that polishes how points look and behave on your drawing. It adds no new features — instead, it fixes two display problems that crept into the previous version and could make the canvas feel slightly “off”: points that showed up at the wrong size until you zoomed, and the gentle highlight that helps you find a point under your cursor going missing. If you installed 1.0.3, this update is especially for you. Everything you already do stays exactly the same — your patterns simply look right from the first moment, without you having to nudge the view to fix them.

What’s New in 1.0.4

Version 1.0.4 addresses two visual issues that appeared in 1.0.3, so the drawing looks correct and responds to you the way it always should. None of your patterns or measurements change in any way; they will open and behave just as before. Updating is recommended for everyone, and strongly recommended if you are currently on 1.0.3.

Valentina — Pattern-Making Application

• Points appear at the right size straight away. The points on your drawing — including the control points that shape your splines and curves — now show up at their correct size immediately. Before this fix, they could appear too large or too small and only snap to the proper size after your next zoom in or out. This was easiest to notice right after using undo, when a point might briefly look wrong even though your pattern was perfectly fine. Now what you see is accurate from the very first instant, with no need to zoom just to “wake up” the view.
• Hovering over a point highlights it again — and so does hovering over its name. When you move your cursor over a point, Valentina highlights it so you can clearly see which one you are about to work with. That helpful highlight had stopped appearing, making it harder to tell points apart in a busy drawing. It is now back. As a welcome bonus, moving your cursor over a point’s name label highlights the point too — so whether you point at the dot itself or at its name, you always get the same clear visual cue about which point you mean.

Upgrade Notes

Valentina 1.0.4 is fully compatible with pattern files created in 1.0.0, 1.0.1, 1.0.2, and 1.0.3. Nothing needs to be converted — just open your files and keep working. There is no risk in updating, and every reason to: you get both of the fixes above and lose none of your existing work. If you are on 1.0.3, upgrading is strongly recommended, because that is the version where these display problems appeared.
